Edith Linares, M.D., is a native of El Salvador and graduated from medical school at the University of El Salvador. She did her pediatric residency at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

Dr. Linares spent 26 years of her career working for the LSU School of Medicine. She was in charge of the Pediatric Continuity Clinic at Charity Hospital and the Well Baby Nursery at University Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Linares is grateful that throughout her career she has had the opportunity to dedicate herself to her twin passions of providing excellent medical care to the children of New Orleans and its surrounding areas and teaching medical students and pediatric residents to do the same.

In 2005, hurricane Katrina left New Orleans completely devastated, the flooding destroyed hospitals and clinics and left the area without adequate medical services for its remaining population and the growing community of new residents who arrived in the aftermath of the storm. In response to the unmet needs of the area’s changing demographics, Dr. Linares established a pediatric clinic in Kenner in 2007 with the support of the School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital. Dr. Linares, who is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, was able to bring much needed medical care to children from all backgrounds while continuing to provide a learning environment for pediatric residents.

Dr. Linares retired from her work with LSU and its clinics in 2016 and now has her own practice in Kenner where she continues to deliver the same compassionate and professional care to her patients in a friendly atmosphere. She is especially focused on the establishment of a trusting parent-doctor relationship to better serve the needs of the community.
